Mac Smith
Biography
Mac Smith is a Sound Effects Editor at Skywalker Sound. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Smith studied film at the University of Iowa and USC, blending his lifelong passions for music and cinema. His musical abilities led him on tour across the U.S. before he shifted focus to sound editing. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to more than 100 films and earned 16 Golden Reel Award nominations. In 2022, he received a Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Sound Editing for his work on Marvel’s Moon Knight. Smith has collaborated with acclaimed directors including Robert Zemeckis, Gore Verbinski, and Guillermo del Toro. His diverse filmography features titles such as Up, Enchanted, Tron: Legacy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Nine Days. In addition to his work in sound, he is an award-winning documentary producer and director. Smith has been a key member of Skywalker Sound since August 2000.
